The Sandusky Main Street Association in partnership with the United Way of Erie County host the annual Duck Derby Fundraiser each spring at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio.
The groups sell thousands of little Rubber Ducks, which cost $5 per duck. With the purchase of a lucky duck, the owner will receive a personalized confirmation receipt with their official duck number.
On Race Day, the numbered ducks are dumped into the “Lazy River” at Kalahari Waterpark & Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. The trip down the “River” takes approximately 15 minutes and the first 4 ducks through the finish shoot are the lucky winners.
The grand prize is a pre-paid lease on a 2013 Toyota Corolla, second prize is two All-Ports Season Passes courtesy of the Jet Express island ferry service; third prize is a 2-night/ 3-day getaway package at Kalahari, and rounding out the fourth prize is a $1000 Sandusky Mall gift package.
Since its inception in 2006, the Duck Derby has raised over $500,000 for the two worthy charities. In 2006, it was awarded the “Most Creative Fundraising Effort Award” by Heritage Ohio.
Duck entries are available for purchase at online, any Kasper Auto Group Dealership, or the Sandusky Mall.
